Gearing up for a big 2024

Weston Ladies are gearing up for a big season after a period of massive growth since Covid. 2023 was successful in terms of player recruitment to the extent that they will be fielding both a hardball and softball team this season.
The last time there was a women's hardball team at Weston was 2019, and this will be the first time in their 25 year history that they will be able to field two teams.

Nicky Clarke continues to head up Women & Girls cricket at Weston and is delighted to make this exciting announcement.
"We've been lucky enough to appoint Paul Fleming as the women's hardball coach. Paul has previously coached in the youth section and it's been great to have such an experienced coach join us. He's hit the ground running and the players are enjoying it."

"I'm also thrilled to announce that Aimee Davidson is our women's hardball vice-captain, and Ali Hewer and Di Davidson are captain and vice-captain respectively of the softball team. These are great appointments which will support the development of women's cricket at Weston."

The Club has a rich history of female players playing pathway cricket, representing Somerset, no more so than Sophie Luff (Somerset, Western Storm, Welsh Fire, London Spirit) and Lauren Filer who is currently on tour in New Zealand with England Women.

Nicky continued "Women's cricket has been on the up for a number of years and is still yet to peak. It's a great time to get involved in any women's sport, not just cricket. We're so lucky to have Lauren, she's a great role model, and we hope that her achievements inspire other women and girls to try cricket."

After a successful Girls only Dynamos programme in 2023 we are also launching Girls training starting on 13th April. The club wants to create a sustainable women's section, and the natural step to make that a reality is to re-establish girls cricket. This will be open to All Stars graduates (age 8) up to Year 7 (age 12), and will offer a mix of softball and hardball training.
